Teenagers have once again shown how much they care about their community by helping to organise a family fun day for their town.
The Evening Telegraph is proud to highlight the work of the Raunds Youth Action Group as part of our series of stories which showcase the achievements of young people in our county.

The group is currently working hard on its third annual free fun
day for the town, which will be held later this month to raise money for youth activities.

Group secretary Maureen Carroll said: "We want people to come along and help make this the town's biggest family fun day ever.

"We want to provide activities for the young people of the town but this event is particularly special because it is designed to bring together the whole community.

"Our young people have done quite a bit of work towards putting on the event and we will also have young people running stalls on the day."

This year's event will include skateboarding and BMX competitions where young people can win free membership to Adrenaline Alley, breakdancing, welly wanging, dog displays, chainsaw carving, a penalty shoot-out and a rowing challenge organised by Manor School, children's rides and activities and entertainment from Mr Mudge and Pippa.

There will also be a tug-of war competition where the winner will receive a trophy which was won last year by the Globe Inn in Raunds. Visitors will be able to try their hand at archery with help from the Archers of Raunds.

Other attractions will include a visit from the fire brigade and a variety of stalls and refreshments.

The event will begin with a car boot sale at 9am and the fun day will take place from midday to 6pm on Sunday, September 21, at the Amos Lawrence Park in Stanwick Road.

Anyone who wants to volunteer to help at the event, hold a stall or join the group can contact 07970 115651 or email raundsyouth@hotmail.co.uk.
