A Jury has been sent out to consider the verdict on how a lorry driver was killed.
The third part of an inquest into the death of Gary Carter, 32, of Car Way near Swansea began this morning at the Diamonds Centre in Irthlingborough.

HM assistant deputy coroner for Northamptonshire Tom Osborne summarised the evidence heard in the
last three days.

The jury heard that on January 4, 2007 Mr Carter was emptying his lorry at the Sita landfill in Cranford when the accident happened.

David Townley gave evidence saying Mr Carter was fixing his lorry to
his towing vehicle when a compactor vehicle pushed him form the rear and crushed him.

He told the jury he had radioed the compactor to say he would tow Mr Carter and that he knew pushing was not allowed on the site.

The jury heard how Tim O'Hare who was driving the compactor gave evidence saying he had asked Mr carter if he wanted to be pushed and he
had given him a thumbs up.

He said pushing was standard practice at the site he also told the jury when he pushed Mr Carter's lorry it did not seem to move forward.

The jury hears contradicting statements from other lorry drivers.

Some said they were pushed on the day and some that they had never been pushed.

The inquest will resume at 1pm.
