A teenage trampolinist hoping to compete in the 2012 Olympics has been crowned Kettering Sports Personality of the Year.
Amanda Harris was presented with the award last night at the Kettering 2008 Sports Awards.

The 18-year-old, who lives in Rothwell, finished second at the over 19s British Championships and has represented Britain at the World Age Games in Quebec in Canada.

Earlier in the night she walked away with the sportswoman of the year award.

Amanda, who trains at the Gymnastics Academy, Northampton, said: "I can't believe I've won. I'm still shaking.

"I was surprised to win the sportswoman of the year – but to win the personality of the year as well is amazing."

The annual award ceremony took place at Wicksteed Park, Kettering.
Amanda was presented with the top award by Kettering mayor Jenny Henson.

She has been trampolining for about 12 years and trains six days a week.
Amanda said: "The Olympics in 2012 is something I would like to work towards.

"Having someone like Jamie Moore at the club who went to the Olympics in 2000 is really good because I've been able to learn a lot from her. I want to work as hard as I can to be the best I can."
